Anther painting based on the ‘Psychedelic’ period of 1969 – 1970. It features the dead of war including those of the holocaust. It symbolises the brutality and futility of war through an indistinct landscape which mirrors the ebb and flow of war.
This painting follows the original drawing with light and shade but also the strong use of colour to create movement and texture. Once again the interaction of the figures echoes the work of Hieronymus Bosch and Stanley Spencer.
The use of light and shade gives a totality amid a wealth of detail. Elements of war by air, land and sea abound subsumed by the casualties of war.
This image draws its power from its very angular nature and its uncompromising response to the subject. Its very texture sums up the brutal edge of war and the irredeemable damage it does to society.
