This is an iconic view of an industrial landscape which I would have seen as a small child on my journeys from London to Scotland, when I kept awake to see the panorama of Industrial Britain that passed by the train window and also those wild places of Britain.
This particular view is based on the great railway viaduct at Stockport which spans the valley and crosses a great industrial landscape. This is the kind of landscape that influenced L. S. Lowry, but painted from my point of view.
