This is a memory of my childhood in Motherwell, it is an amalgam of two different drawings that were collaged together when the painting was enlarged.
In many ways this is one of my most dramatic evocations of the frenetic world I knew as a young child in Motherwell.
This is a fanciful somewhat abstract rendition of the steelworks with an older man and a young boy and a dog. The man is based on my uncle Neil Logan who worked at the Ravenscraig steelworks which was a state of the art roll mill. The boy is me and the dog is ‘Whiskey’, Neil and Isa’s dog. So this is a completely autobiographical view encapsulating the impact Motherwell made on me as a child.
