This was taken from a drawing based loosely on Canterbury Cathedral.
On the back of the drawing is a plan of the Abbey with a faux medieval description of the collapse of part of the building.
On a visit to Canterbury in the late 1950’s I saw the ‘Red Dean’ of Canterbury Hewlitt Johnson who looked the very image of St Thomas Becket who was martyred there some eight hundred years before. The use of colour this picture makes a vast difference to the feel of it.
