This was painted from a drawing done on the spot in St Ives in 2012 on my bi-annual visit there in 2012.
This was drawn from my favourite viewpoint on the Island overlooking Porthmeor Beach.
The boiler in question is that of the ship Alba that ran aground in 1938, which was do memorably captured by the painter Alfred Wallis, whose pictures of St Ives, ships and the sea so influenced the modernists who went to work in St Ives.
The boilers are visible at low tide.
