Artist
The inspiration for this picture was the David Lean film ‘Great Expectations’, the story of which was based on the North Kent coast.
I visited the church at Cooling where, in the book, Pip’s family were buried.
This landscape is quite spooky even today and the light is quite atmospheric. The sky was quite a challenge and I painted and repainted it several times.
