This was painted from a coloured drawing of 1970 when I had graduated from Goldsmith’s College with a first class honours degree. I spent some time in Scotland, then went to Mythholmroyd in the West Riding of Yorkshire and stayed for several months in an old farmhouse with Anne Hillary and her seven children and some other friends from Goldsmiths. This was an evocation of the time spent there in what was an idyllic place in a house that reputedly haunted.
