I originally subtitled this ‘Lord Byron’s day off’. It shows a romantic figure sitting in the ruins of a castle contemplating his muse.
It is an allusion to such romantic figures as Byron, Shelley, and ‘Monk’ Lewis who mused on ruined abbeys and castles with fairy characters, and all too often who died young, hence the epithet ‘incurable’.
