This was based on a childhood experience in the early fifties when old cars were abandoned on bombsites and on derelict country estates used as scrapyards or car dumps.
All the elements in this painting were taken from pictures of real cars found in real car dumps. The house is a real building (located near Banff, Scotland).
All this is but a memory, as most old car dumps have been cleared and modern regulations mean that car dumps are becoming a thing of the past.
